Privacy Policy

1. Overview
Transcriptifyyt ("we", "our", "us") is a free tool that extracts transcripts from public YouTube videos. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what limited data we process and how.
2. Information we process
- YouTube URLs you submit: processed transiently to fetch the corresponding transcript.
- Basic technical data: IP address, user agent, and request timestamps for security, abuse prevention, and rate limiting.
We do not require an account, and we do not collect names, email addresses, or payment information.
3. How we use information
- To deliver the requested transcript.
- To monitor and improve the reliability and security of the Service.
- To prevent abuse, fraud, and excessive usage.
4. Data retention
Submitted URLs and prompts are processed in memory to fulfill your request and are not stored in a user-facing history. Aggregated, non- identifying logs may be retained for a limited period for diagnostics and abuse prevention.
5. Third-party services
We rely on third-party providers to operate the Service, including:
- YouTube / Google (source of public caption data).
- A transcript API provider (to fetch caption tracks).
- A hosting/CDN provider.
Data sent to these providers is governed by their respective privacy policies. We are not affiliated with YouTube or Google.
6. Cookies and consent
Transcriptifyyt is designed to be cookie-light. We do not use advertising cookies, third-party tracking cookies, cross-site trackers, or analytics that profile individual users.
The only browser storage we set is first-party local storage (not HTTP cookies) used strictly to make the Service work:
transcriptifyyt:cookie-consent— remembers whether you accepted or declined our cookie notice so we don't show the banner on every visit.transcriptifyyt:daily-usage— a small per-day counter so the UI can show how many transcripts you have left today (see section 7).
These items are considered strictly necessary under GDPR / ePrivacy because they are required for the requested functionality and do not require prior consent. Accepting or declining the cookie notice does not change what we store, since we set nothing else; the banner exists for transparency. You can clear all of it at any time from your browser settings.
Our hosting/CDN provider may set technical session cookies needed to route requests securely. We do not read or use these for tracking.
7. Daily usage limit
To keep the Service free, fast, and available to everyone, each visitor is limited to a small number of transcript extractions per day (currently 3). We enforce this limit in two ways:
- In your browser: a small counter is stored in your browser's local storage (key
transcriptifyyt:daily-usage) so the interface can show how many extractions you have left today. You can clear it any time from your browser settings. - On our server: we temporarily keep your IP address in server memory together with a per-day counter, solely to enforce the daily limit. This counter is not written to any database, is never shared, and is automatically discarded when the server restarts or the day rolls over (whichever comes first).
We do not use this data to build a profile of you, and we do not link it to any other information.
8. Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction (e.g. GDPR, CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you. Because we do not maintain user accounts, requests are limited to information we can reasonably identify as yours.
9. Children's privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
